Matcha Bowl - Black Gold Gourds
This is a Mino ware matcha bowl.
This elegant matcha bowl features a festive design of golden gourds and delicate flowers set against a deep black glaze.
Accented with vibrant red cords and shimmering gold, it brings a touch of classic Japanese artistry to your tea ceremony.
The gourd, a traditional symbol of good fortune, makes this bowl perfect for both daily enjoyment and special occasions.
Mino ware originated during the Momoyama period, alongside the rise of the tea ceremony, and is primarily produced in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It was particularly loved by tea masters during the birth of Japan’s wabi-sabi culture. Notable types of Mino ware include the refined pale yellow Kizeto, the glossy jet-black Setoguro, the soft milky-white Shino ware, and the uniquely green-patterned Oribe ware. Today, Mino ware accounts for more than half of all porcelain tableware produced in Japan.
Please note that the appearance and texture may vary slightly from piece to piece. Thank you for your understanding.
