This is Mino ware tableware.

On a white base, blue lines depict animals in the style of the famous chōjū-giga (frolicking animals), creating a simple yet intriguing design. This small bowl has a charming appeal that makes you want to pick it up and take a closer look.

It’s the perfect choice for those who are tired of ordinary tableware and are looking for something unique.

Please note that the appearance and texture may vary slightly between items.

Mino ware is a type of pottery that began during the Momoyama period, flourishing alongside the rise of the tea ceremony. It is primarily produced in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It was especially beloved by tea masters active during the Momoyama period, the birthplace of Japan’s wabi-sabi aesthetic.

Representative styles of Mino ware include the elegant pale yellow “Kizeto,” the glossy jet-black “Setoguro,” the soft, milky white “Shino ware,” and the uniquely green-patterned “Oribe ware,” which is particularly rare.

Today, Mino ware accounts for more than half of all porcelain tableware produced in Japan.
