Kohiki Rabbit Medium Rice Bowl
This is a Mino ware rice bowl.
It features a simple design of a rabbit leaping across a plain white background, creating a clean and elegant aesthetic.
With its understated look, this type of rice bowl is reminiscent of those commonly found in Japanese home cooking. It pairs perfectly with traditional meals based on rice and ichiju-sansai (one soup and three side dishes), the foundation of Japanese cuisine.
Please note that the appearance and texture may vary slightly from piece to piece. Thank you for your understanding.
Mino ware originated during the Momoyama period, alongside the rise of the tea ceremony, and is primarily produced in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It was particularly loved by tea masters during the birth of Japan’s wabi-sabi culture. Notable types of Mino ware include the refined pale yellow Kizeto, the glossy jet-black Setoguro, the soft milky-white Shino ware, and the uniquely green-patterned Oribe ware. Today, Mino ware accounts for more than half of all porcelain tableware produced in Japan.
