Banko ware is a type of pottery primarily produced in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture. Its origins date back to the mid-Edo period, and it was named with the wish that "the works would last forever." The character "萬" (Ban) means all or everything, while "古" (Ko) refers to the passage of time. In addition to bonsai pots, Banko ware is known for its durability, particularly with heat-resistant items like teapots and earthenware pots.
