Circle Rabbit Thick Rimmed Sencha Teacup
This is a Mino ware teacup (sencha bowl).
The design features a cute rabbit hopping on a blue gradient background, making it an adorable piece.
A sencha bowl traditionally refers to the bowl used to serve tea to guests in Japan. Of course, both sencha bowls and teacups can be used for personal use or for guests without any issue.
Please note that the appearance and texture may vary slightly from piece to piece. Thank you for your understanding.
Mino ware originated during the Momoyama period, alongside the rise of the tea ceremony, and is primarily produced in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It was particularly loved by tea masters during the birth of Japan’s wabi-sabi culture. Notable types of Mino ware include the refined pale yellow Kizeto, the glossy jet-black Setoguro, the soft milky-white Shino ware, and the uniquely green-patterned Oribe ware. Today, Mino ware accounts for more than half of all porcelain tableware produced in Japan.
