Mino ware, which began during the Momoyama period, is produced mainly in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It gained popularity with the rise of the tea ceremony and was especially loved by tea masters who embraced the wabi-sabi aesthetic. The characteristic colors of Mino ware include the delicate pale yellow of Kizeto, the lustrous black of Setoguro, the creamy white of Shino ware, and the unique green motifs of Oribe ware. Today, Mino ware accounts for over half of Japan's domestic porcelain tableware production.
