Whirlpool Round Small Bowl
This is Mino ware tableware.
The black base with a brushstroke-style design is sophisticated, and as the name suggests, it resembles either swirling tides or even a planet, making it a truly fantastical piece.
Being a small bowl, it is perfect for side dishes or small items like cherry tomatoes, allowing you to enjoy its unique charm.
The striking design will add a sense of refinement to your dining table.
Please note that the appearance and texture may vary slightly between items.
Mino ware is a type of pottery that began during the Momoyama period, flourishing alongside the rise of the tea ceremony. It is primarily produced in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It was especially cherished by tea masters active during the Momoyama period, the birthplace of Japan’s wabi-sabi aesthetic.
Representative styles of Mino ware include the elegant pale yellow “Kizeto,” the glossy jet-black “Setoguro,” the soft, milky white “Shino ware,” and the uniquely green-patterned “Oribe ware,” which is particularly rare.
Today, Mino ware accounts for more than half of all porcelain tableware produced in Japan.
