The History and Charm of Shigaraki-yaki
This product is authentic Shigaraki-yaki (Shigaraki ware), produced in the area around Koka City, Shiga Prefecture. As one of Japan's "Six Ancient Kilns," Shigaraki has a storied history.
Historically famous for large-scale ceramics like Hibachi (charcoal braziers), the region now produces a diverse range of items, including flower vases, garden pots, and washbasins. However, it is most globally recognized for the charming Tanuki (raccoon dog) statues that symbolize the area. The rustic yet warm texture of Shigaraki’s clay lives on in this "Mizukagami" decanter.
For a truly unified and elegant dining experience, we recommend using this decanter with the matching "Mizukagami" sake cups.
