Twisted Flower Ohama Sencha Teacup
This is a Mino ware teacup (sencha bowl).
The design features beautiful patterns inspired by nature and traditional Japanese motifs, such as seigaiha (blue ocean waves), flowers, and plants—evoking a strong sense of Japan's natural beauty.
A sencha bowl originally referred to a bowl used to serve tea to guests in Japan. Of course, both sencha bowls and teacups can be used for personal enjoyment or for serving guests.
Please note that the appearance and texture may vary slightly from piece to piece. Thank you for your understanding.
Mino ware originated during the Momoyama period, alongside the rise of the tea ceremony, and is primarily produced in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It was particularly loved by tea masters during the birth of Japan’s wabi-sabi culture. Notable types of Mino ware include the refined pale yellow Kizeto, the glossy jet-black Setoguro, the soft milky-white Shino ware, and the uniquely green-patterned Oribe ware. Today, Mino ware accounts for more than half of all porcelain tableware produced in Japan.
