Mino ware, which began during the Momoyama period, is a type of pottery primarily produced in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It became popular alongside the rise of the tea ceremony and was especially beloved by tea masters who appreciated Japan's wabi-sabi culture. The representative colors of Mino ware include the refined pale yellow of Kizeto, the glossy black of Setoguro, the soft, milky white of Shino ware, and the distinctive green designs of Oribe ware. Today, Mino ware accounts for more than half of Japan's domestic porcelain tableware production.
