Mino ware, originating during the Momoyama period, is a traditional pottery produced mainly in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It gained popularity with the rise of the tea ceremony and was cherished by tea masters who embraced Japan's wabi-sabi aesthetic. The hallmark colors of Mino ware include the elegant pale yellow of Kizeto, the glossy black of Setoguro, the soft, milky white of Shino ware, and the distinctive green hues of Oribe ware. Today, Mino ware represents over half of Japan's domestic porcelain tableware production.
