Mino ware originated during the Momoyama period and is produced mainly in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It became popular alongside the rise of the tea ceremony and was particularly adored by tea masters who appreciated its wabi-sabi aesthetic. Notable colors in Mino ware include the elegant pale yellow of Kizeto, the glossy black of Setoguro, the soft white of Shino ware, and the distinctive green patterns of Oribe ware. Today, Mino ware accounts for more than half of Japan's domestic porcelain tableware production.
