Red Tokusa Yunomi Teacup
This is a Mino ware teacup.
The earthy, slightly dark red color, reminiscent of red clay, is accentuated by thick stripes, giving it a more refined and bold look, while also evoking the charm of a lantern, making it both stylish and cute.
It’s perfect for tea, but can also be used creatively as a pencil holder or for other purposes.
Please note that the appearance and texture may vary slightly from piece to piece. Thank you for your understanding.
Mino ware originated during the Momoyama period, alongside the rise of the tea ceremony, and is primarily produced in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It was particularly loved by tea masters during the birth of Japan’s wabi-sabi culture. Notable types of Mino ware include the refined pale yellow Kizeto, the glossy jet-black Setoguro, the soft milky-white Shino ware, and the uniquely green-patterned Oribe ware. Today, Mino ware accounts for more than half of all porcelain tableware produced in Japan.
