Red and Black Rounded Donburi Bowl
This bowl beautifully contrasts black and red, a color combination as classic in Japanese tableware as the white and blue pairing. Its rounded shape makes it perfect not only for donburi dishes but also for serving udon, soba, or other noodle dishes.
Please note that slight variations in appearance and texture may occur due to the handmade nature of the ceramics. We appreciate your understanding.
Mino ware, originating during the Momoyama period, is produced mainly in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It became renowned alongside the rise of the Japanese tea ceremony and was favored by tea masters who embraced the wabi-sabi aesthetic. The characteristic colors of Mino ware include the delicate pale yellow of Kizeto, the lustrous black of Setoguro, the creamy white of Shino ware, and the distinctive green motifs of Oribe ware. Today, Mino ware accounts for over half of Japan's domestic porcelain tableware production.
