Light Yellow Clay Donburi Bowl
This distinctive bowl features a soft greige base with a beautiful blue leaf design cascading down, reminiscent of a wisteria trellis. The elegant pattern adds a touch of natural beauty to your dining experience.
With its deep shape, this bowl is versatile enough to hold various dishes. However, the intricate pattern makes it particularly ideal for traditional Japanese dishes such as simmered fish or oden (Japanese hot pot). The design enhances the simple elegance of these meals.
Please note that slight variations in appearance and texture may occur due to the handmade nature of the ceramics. We appreciate your understanding.
Mino ware, originating during the Momoyama period, is produced mainly in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It became renowned alongside the rise of the Japanese tea ceremony and was favored by tea masters who embraced the wabi-sabi aesthetic. The characteristic colors of Mino ware include the delicate pale yellow of Kizeto, the lustrous black of Setoguro, the creamy white of Shino ware, and the distinctive green motifs of Oribe ware. Today, Mino ware accounts for over half of Japan's domestic porcelain tableware production.
