Ink Wash Wazen Round Plate
This is Mino ware tableware.
This relatively large plate features a design reminiscent of Japanese ink painting, evoking a sense of traditional aesthetics.
The ink-like patterns resemble a sumi-e landscape, drawing you in with an artistic charm that feels more like viewing a piece of art than a dish.
Please note that the appearance and texture may vary slightly between pieces. Thank you for your understanding.
Mino ware is a type of pottery that began during the Momoyama period and is primarily produced in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It flourished alongside the rise of the tea ceremony and was especially favored by tea masters during the birth of Japan’s wabi-sabi aesthetic. Notable styles of Mino ware include the refined pale yellow Kizeto, the lustrous jet-black Setoguro, the soft milky-white Shino ware, and the uniquely green Oribe ware, all known for their distinctive beauty. Today, Mino ware accounts for over half of all porcelain tableware produced in Japan.
