Gold Kotobuki Yunomi Teacup
This is a limited stock item. We recommend that you purchase as soon as possible.
This teacup features the auspicious kanji character “寿” (kotobuki, meaning “longevity” or “congratulations”) written in gold on a navy background.
In Japan, “寿” is widely recognized as a celebratory character—it's even used in the word “sushi,” making it one of the symbols closely tied to Japanese culture.
Its compact size makes it especially suitable for serving guests on special occasions, though of course, it can be enjoyed for everyday use as well.
Please note that the appearance and texture may vary slightly from piece to piece. Thank you for your understanding.
Mino ware originated during the Momoyama period, alongside the rise of the tea ceremony, and is primarily produced in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It was particularly loved by tea masters during the birth of Japan’s wabi-sabi culture. Notable types of Mino ware include the refined pale yellow Kizeto, the glossy jet-black Setoguro, the soft milky-white Shino ware, and the uniquely green-patterned Oribe ware. Today, Mino ware accounts for more than half of all porcelain tableware produced in Japan.
