Ginpo Kikka Ame Rice Cooking Pot
This is a Banko ware rice cooker.
The pot features a deep brown lid, generously coated with glaze, and the deep set is designed to cook rice perfectly, making it a charming and functional piece.
Unlike traditional earthenware pots, this is a dedicated rice cooker, ideal for not only cooking simple white rice but also for experimenting with brown rice, mixed grains, or even seasoned rice dishes like takikomi gohan.
Please note that there may be slight differences in appearance and texture between individual products. We appreciate your understanding in advance.
Banko ware is a type of pottery primarily produced in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture. Its origins date back to the mid-Edo period, and it was named with the hope that "the works would last forever." The character "萬" (Ban) means all or everything, while "古" (Ko) refers to the passage of time. In addition to bonsai pots, Banko ware is known for its durability, especially with heat-resistant items like teapots and earthenware pots.
