Mino ware is a type of pottery that originated in the Momoyama period and is primarily produced in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It flourished alongside the rise of the Japanese tea ceremony and was especially cherished by tea masters during the birth of Japan’s wabi-sabi aesthetic. Signature styles of Mino ware include the refined pale yellow Kizeto, the lustrous jet-black Setoguro, the soft milky-white Shino ware, and the distinctively green Oribe ware, each known for their unique and rare designs. Today, Mino ware accounts for over half of all porcelain tableware produced in Japan.
