Mino ware is a type of pottery that began in the Momoyama period, flourishing alongside the rise of the tea ceremony. It is primarily produced in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It was especially beloved by tea masters active during the Momoyama period, which saw the emergence of Japan’s aesthetic of "wabi-sabi." Representative styles of Mino ware include the elegant pale yellow Kizeto, the glossy jet-black Setoguro, the milky-white Shino ware reminiscent of soft, plump skin, and the uniquely green Oribe ware, known for its rare and distinctive patterns. Today, Mino ware accounts for over half of all porcelain tableware produced in Japan.
