This is Mino ware tableware.
The design on the inside of the bowl is particularly distinctive. The white background is adorned with a brushstroke pattern in red, giving it a one-of-a-kind feel.
It also evokes a sense of summer, with a cool and refreshing design that adds a touch of elegance.
Please note that the appearance and texture may vary slightly between items.
Mino ware is a type of pottery that began during the Momoyama period, flourishing alongside the rise of the tea ceremony. It is primarily produced in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It was especially cherished by tea masters active during the Momoyama period, the birthplace of Japan’s wabi-sabi aesthetic.
Representative styles of Mino ware include the elegant pale yellow “Kizeto,” the glossy jet-black “Setoguro,” the soft, milky white “Shino ware,” and the uniquely green-patterned “Oribe ware,” which is particularly rare.
Today, Mino ware accounts for more than half of all porcelain tableware produced in Japan.
