Dark Matte Round Plate
This is Mino ware tableware.
The matte black surface gives this plate a simple yet striking presence, while the gray brushstroke-like design adds definition and balance to the overall look.
Its large size makes it versatile—pile it high for guests at a party, or use it to present a beautifully arranged dish like in a fine Japanese restaurant. Its simplicity is what makes it so practical and stylish.
Please note that the appearance and texture may vary slightly from item to item. Thank you for your understanding.
Mino ware is a type of pottery that began during the Momoyama period and is primarily produced in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It flourished alongside the rise of the tea ceremony and was especially favored by tea masters during the birth of Japan’s wabi-sabi aesthetic. Notable styles of Mino ware include the refined pale yellow Kizeto, the lustrous jet-black Setoguro, the soft milky-white Shino ware, and the uniquely green Oribe ware, all known for their distinctive beauty. Today, Mino ware accounts for over half of all porcelain tableware produced in Japan.
