Mino ware is a type of pottery that originated in the Momoyama period and is primarily produced in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It flourished alongside the rise of the Japanese tea ceremony and was especially cherished by tea masters during the emergence of Japan’s wabi-sabi aesthetic. Prominent styles of Mino ware include the elegant pale yellow Kizeto, the lustrous black Setoguro, the soft milky-white Shino ware, and the uniquely green Oribe ware, known for its distinct and rare designs. Today, Mino ware accounts for over half of all porcelain tableware produced in Japan.
