This is a Mino ware kyusu (Japanese teapot).

Though simple in black, its minimalist design beautifully highlights the elegant form of the kyusu itself.

Unlike Western-style teapots, a kyusu allows you to pour tea with just a twist of the wrist, making it easier to handle—especially for those who may find heavier pots difficult to lift. It's also a wonderful gift option.

Please note that the appearance and texture may vary slightly from piece to piece. Thank you for your understanding.

Mino ware originated during the Momoyama period, alongside the rise of the tea ceremony, and is primarily produced in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It was particularly loved by tea masters during the birth of Japan’s wabi-sabi culture. Notable types of Mino ware include the refined pale yellow Kizeto, the glossy jet-black Setoguro, the soft milky-white Shino ware, and the uniquely green-patterned Oribe ware. Today, Mino ware accounts for more than half of all porcelain tableware produced in Japan.
